Rule Play
Fake.
That’s what we are.
That's what we agreed on.
That’s all we were ever supposed to be.
What started out as revenge turned into a game that I never should have played.
I should have known that a fake relationship with superstar quarterback Adrian Malone was asking for trouble.
It should have been simple.
He needed to use me to boost his presence on social media. I needed to use him to make my ex squirm.
I was too focused on revenge to catch myself when I started to slip.
Too lost in the way that his lips felt when they pressed against mine to realize that I was already falling for him.
Now, the lines between what’s real and what’s fake have started to blur.
You see, that’s the problem with faking it. Someone is always better at it, and by the time that I realized this, I was in too deep.
Turns out, the cost of revenge was more than I was bargaining for. I didn’t plan on paying with my heart.
