Cherishing Her During Adversity
‘Follow your heart,’ is the cheesiest piece of advice your mother can give you. But in my case, it was exactly what I needed to hear.
I
was a young man when I inherited a multi-billion-dollar corporation
from my parents. They had died in a horrible accident and I was left to
tend to their real estate business.
That’s all well and good if the real estate had been something other than shopping centers.
Because as soon as e-commerce came around, things went downhill.
And all those people I thought were my friends while I was rich and famous disappeared in a flash.
Leaving me with nothing.
Or so I thought.
Through thick and thin, I had Lola, my best friend.
From childhood, we were attached at the hip.
But no man wants to stay in that dreaded friend-zone so it was time for me to ‘follow my heart.’
I just hope it doesn’t ruin the friendship I value so dearly because to lose Lola would be truly to lose everything.
Maybe it was time for me to truly be attached to the hip with this girl — if you know what I mean — wink wink, nudge nudge.
