Flattered
As soon as the intimacy had ebbed, Darci had regretted having sex with
Curtis to comfort her anxiety on the night after her husband had died.
It had been a bad idea, no matter how good it had felt.
The funeral
over, and her kids returned to college and their adult lives, Darci
found herself alone. Very alone. But before she even knew what was
happening, Curtis was stopping over regularly to have dinner with her.
Soon, he pushed her to move to the couple level with him, but Darci set
forward rules about not getting intimate again. Not for a while anyhow…
When
Darci distances herself from Curtis, his behaviour becomes strange –
almost possessive or obsessive, but…he hasn’t done anything. Except for
really, really like Darci. She pushes him away, but he always seems to
be around. Strange events begin to occur in her life. Although Darci is
concerned, she is still trying to get over her husband’s death and
rebuild her life, so pushes on discounting them. Time goes by. Finally,
unexpectedly, Darci feels ready to start dating again, as a hunky local
business owner asks her out for drinks. But they never get to have that
drink.
Darci is not sure what to think? Why do things keep happening
to her? Everywhere she goes Curtis seems to be there, but should she be
surprised? After all, he is a local police officer, and his job is to
be out in public. But there are so many coincidences...
